Voorbeeld

Haal het element met de opgegeven id op:

Haal het element op en verander de kleur ervan:

Of verander gewoon de kleur:

Definitie en gebruik

De getElementById()methode retourneert een element met een opgegeven waarde.

De getElementById()methode retourneert nullals het element niet bestaat.

De getElementById()methode is een van de meest voorkomende methoden in de HTML DOM. Het wordt bijna elke keer gebruikt als u een HTML-element wilt lezen of bewerken.

Opmerking

Elke id moet uniek zijn, maar:

Als er twee of meer elementen met dezelfde id bestaan, getElementById()wordt de eerste geretourneerd.
