Multimedia op het web is geluid, muziek, video's, films en animaties.
Wat is multimedia?
Multimedia is er in veel verschillende formaten. Het kan bijna alles zijn wat je kunt horen of zien, zoals afbeeldingen, muziek, geluid, video's, platen, films, animaties en meer.
Webpagina's bevatten vaak multimedia-elementen van verschillende typen en formaten.
Browserondersteuning
De eerste webbrowsers hadden alleen ondersteuning voor tekst, beperkt tot een enkel lettertype in een enkele kleur.
Later kwamen er browsers met ondersteuning voor kleuren, lettertypen, afbeeldingen en multimedia!
Multimedia-indelingen
Multimedia-elementen (zoals audio of video) worden opgeslagen in mediabestanden.
De meest gebruikelijke manier om het type bestand te achterhalen, is door naar de bestandsextensie te kijken.
Multimediabestanden hebben formaten en verschillende extensies zoals: .wav, .mp3, .mp4, .mpg, .wmv en .avi.

Er zijn veel videoformaten. De formaten MP4, WebM en Ogg worden ondersteund door HTML. Het MP4-formaat wordt aanbevolen door YouTube. |

Algemene audio-indelingen
MP3 is het beste formaat voor gecomprimeerde opgenomen muziek. De term MP3 is synoniem geworden voor digitale muziek.
Als uw website over opgenomen muziek gaat, is MP3 de juiste keuze.
